The parish of Upper Ryedale consists of five little churches in the North York Moors and the Priest in Charge of Helmsley is also responsible for our sister parish. The Parish Deacon, Helen Rawlings has the day to day care for the churches and communities.

Sunday worship rotates around four of the five churches; St John, Bilsdale being used only on the fifth Sunday of a month. The parish, as a whole, is farming country, bordered by forestry and moorland. It has two pubs, one restaurant, one shop, a number of bed and breakfast establishments, and some of the most beautiful countryside in England.
The Sunday Eucharist is generally in the form of Holy Communion by extension with one of the serving clergy from Helmsley coming to celebrate Holy Communion once a month.
